Dino Silvestri left Italy in 1945, after World War II. In an uncertain fate that ended happily in beautiful Honduran port, La Ceiba.
La Ceiba was a quiet little village, a cheerful and friendly people, the ideal place for a young adventurer. There he met and married the beautiful and distinguished young Olga Ferez, one of the beauties of the time, which was the backbone of his life and what remains to their children.
Later inaugurate and I manage the famous Maxim, s Restaurant & Club, one of the most popular restaurants in the country at that time, with whom he had a resounding success, and when he finally decided to retire to a quiet life on the island of Roatan, opened the Buccaneers Inn Hotel, with only five rooms and superb restaurant with cacera known Italian food.
Don Di, as everyone called him, left his legacy restaurantering and ability to be the perfect host to his sons Romeo and Giovanni. That today are registered exquisite cuisine and why many people travel to Roatan, still miss the landmark of the honorable family Silvestri brand.
His eldest son Romeo opened in Roatan the first gourmet restaurant on the island in June 1978. Starting with a small but exquisite restaurant, four tables outside and facing the Bay of French Harbour.
The place had a special menu consisting of Filet Mignon, Grilled lobster served with butter and garlic, fried shrimp and pasta al pomodoro and Basilisk, in a Caribbean setting with live music and excellent service.
Romeo's Restaurant came to change lives and palate of the islanders and visitors gourmet lovers of good food, fresh seafood and seeking good service and Caribbean hospitality.
In 2000, 22 years after its inception Romeo's restaurant defines its cuisine as Caribbean-Italian. Using fresh seafood, pasta and cacera best imported beef fillet also harvested using fresh herbs in your own garden, genuine olive oil and lots of garlic. Romeo combines all these foods with love for good food that your family has developed through the years.
